• Sun Microsystems. 8/1999 to 5/2004.
  Worked on the Portal server, developed tools for portlet devlopment, working in conjunction with the NetBeans IDE. Participated in Portal Server architectural decisions.

  Participated in the definition / architectural design of the Vortex project, a B2B marketplace server. Developed portal framework components for aggregation of content and the support of JSP based development for the Vortex services.

• Net Dynamics (acquired by Sun Microsystems). 8/1998 to 8/1999.
  Developed new features for the Net Dynamics object framework as part of the 5.0 project release. Developed HTML caching component, added support for stateless projects, argument marshalling for EJB support, session management enhancements and numerous small features. Investigated use of XML in application server. Java development in a complex environment tailored for building and testing the Net Dynamics application server.
• Privately funded project. 4/1997 to 8/1998.
  Developed technology to automatically parse structure of HTML documents using a scripting language approach to specifying parts of the documents you are interested in, and deploying this technology for filtration or extracting document data on a scheduled basis. Development using Visual C++ MFC, Win95, WinSock, ODBC.
• Iband, Inc (acquired by Macromedia). 4/1995 to 4/1997.
  Worked on Iband product, which was an integrated framework for the development of web based applications. The Iband product had a WYSIWYG HTML editor plus an application server with an extensible architecture for adding specialized dynamic content. Developed extensions for providing DB connectivity and bulletin-board style functionality, and worked on the application server. Developed in C++, Win95 / NT environment, with MFC based GUI development on the editor side. DB access through ODBC, product verified against a number of DB vendors.
• Oracle Corporation. 7/1994 to 3/1995.
  Worked to define initial architecture for Interactive TV services. Investigated customer requirements, and initial architecture for content management tools, particularly with respect to designing a repository to support multimedia design.
• Ingres (ASK/Ingres products division), Alameda, California. 1985 to 7/1994.
  Worked on GUI application generator product, concerned mainly with issues involving objects for packaging SQL queries, and referential integrity aspects of the product. Development in 4GL and C, using locally developed object oriented toolset. Primary development migrated from Sun environment to NT/Windows during product cycle.

  Designed and built GUI debugger for Ingres Windows4GL product. The debugger is a source level debugger tightly integrated to the 4GL application editor, providing features appropriate for the multithreaded, event driven Ingres 4GL as well as more conventional debugging features. Managed product all the way through development cycle, working with other engineering organizations to get needed support, as well as doing most of the actual development work. Developed in 4GL and C, using locally developed object oriented toolset. Primary development on Sun workstations running OS/Motif, product ported to other platforms, including MS Windows.

  Served on Ingres committees dealing with code portability and CM issues.

  Worked on Ingres Vision product, the application generator for character based applications. Was concerned mainly with design of storage / retrieval mechanisms for getting application information into and out of the database. Developed in C, on a variety of UNIX machines and workstations, then ported to VMS.

• AT&T IS (formerly Bell Laboratories), Denver, Co (PBX lab). 1979 to 1985.
  Worked on voice mail system (AUDIX). Developed forms based interface for the configuration of system. Developed in C on UNIX for embedded deployment on a proprietary message based operating system.

  Designed and developed traffic measurement and reporting software for System 85 and Dimension, AT&T PBX offerings. Involved understanding of the task scheduling for an embedded realtime system.
